Your Intution
In-tu-i-tion: the act or faculty of knowing or sensing without the use of rational processes, immediate cognition - American Heritage Dictionary
I'm frequently asked "how can I develop my intuition?" I don't know of an exact methodology, but I'm happy to share what I think I know. This post is the first in a series of blogs dedicated to inner awareness.
Many people tell me that "they were psychic as a child, but now as an adult they seemed to have lost that gift". Intuition is intrinsic and omnipresent... it can't be turned on or off or for that matter even "lost". I think what happens is as we go through the educational process we are taught to rely on that which can be reasoned, proven or measured... we learn to think. Intuition is not thinking, it's "sensing or feeling". When intuition speaks, it speaks with a soft voice; it flows to you like a gentle breeze. If you're busy "thinking" you're likely to ignore its message.
Most people don't trust what they feel, there's a tendency to second guess their intuitive thoughts and/or feelings because it might not make sense or simply because the information they've received doesn't match a predicable outcome or experience.
Very often when giving a reading, I will receive information that makes no sense to my rational mind, but I give it any way. Once I was reading for a woman and her "Spirit Guide" came through. I was told by her Guide to ask her if she had a relative named "John" her Guide added "this is a trick question" so I said.. he says ( her Guide) "this is a trick question" The woman paused and began to smile. She related that she comes from a 'blended family" and that "John" was the step-brother from her step-father. She added that there had been much debate amongst her full siblings as to whether or not to include John as a member of their family.
The whole "trick question" thing made no sense to me, to be honest I thought I might have been making it up, turned out I wasn't at all. What I learned from that experience was to trust everything, flow with it, cause it comes in easy and light and above all, be obedient... say what you hear, see or feel cause it's not about you... which brings me to another very important place... ego. Ego, masquerades as rational mind and will want to dictate your sensory process. Ego will say to you "that makes no sense" "don't believe that" or like in the above mentioned experience "you're just making that up". Ego needs the rational mind to prevail so it can maintain control. Intuition is best received when one's heart and mind is open to all possibilities.
As I heard someone say... no, exclaim the other day, I believe in everything !!!... that goes for me too. When you are closed to possibilities or filled with anger, hurt and pain you make it difficult to feel the soft gentle breeze of intuition. You're weighed down with "heaviness"...and that becomes the "frequency" you're most likely to tune into. (I am an enthusiastic advocate of forgiveness work..more to come on that topic).
Now here's your first assignment: Pay attention to your every day, every minute thoughts... what do you think?
Did you receive some insight?
How would you describe that feeling?
Did you TRUST that feeling ?
If an action was required, did you follow through?
Just take an hour of your day to monitor and journal your thoughts for that hour.
